Living in Flow.
How to shake off the heaviness, and actually be the change you want to see in the world.
Are you feeling like the noise of the world just got turned up a notch again?
This weekend, with the announcement of digital ids here in the UK, and the various things happening in the US, not to mention the different challenges coming up in just everyday lives, I found myself getting sucked into the heavy, encroaching sense of fearful energy.
Blech.
Heaviness always leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
It’s like this icky, sticky, dark cloud that can make everything just gloomy.
I’m not discrediting the serious problems in the world as just gloom, but I also don’t want to label it as doom.
Rather, I want to put my attention and the focus of this post on what we can do about it.
The world is currently going through changes; it’s hurting, it’s painful, it’s suffering, and we can only hope that these are birth pains and something is being transformed on the other side.
But I have the feeling we are being asked to be the change we want to see in this world, and not just say it as a slogan.
Even though life is busy and we each have personal challenges that can fill our minds and hearts, I think each of us are being asked to step into a wholer, deeper version of ourselves so we offer this world a different energy at its core.
Where attention goes, energy flows.
We know this. Not just by the proof in our lives but also scientifically we know that what you focus on grows.
That’s not to say we don’t look at what’s broken, breaking or aching… but we need to be more aware of the energy we are bringing to it.
Here’s what I mean, and I just actually recorded my next podcast about it:
If we truly step into wholeness, if we really do the work on ourselves and be the people we came to be, then we won’t react in anger, hatred, heartbreak or panic… rather we will radiate and respond as love, which may just make all the difference.
Consider what life In Flow looks like:
Rather than getting up, checking our phones, grumbling about the burnt toast and stumbling out of the house to get stuck in traffic, it can be a simple shift to;
Waking up, stretching your body and being aware that you are alive.
Taking deep breaths to regulate your nervous system and connect to your spiritual Source.
Looking out the window and appreciating the world of nature that’s working so well, noticing the trees, the birds, the sky.
With your nervous system regulated, and your soul present, you align to your whole self. Suddenly you don’t react to life happening to you, you can observe, respond and shift as the day progresses.
Because you are in flow, traffic changes, or if it’s there you use it as a time to breathe and notice life around you.
Because you are soul present, you get intuitive nudges suggesting you take different routes, or maybe you run late so you get somewhere in the perfect time.
You aren’t stressed but curious. Curious how your intuition will lead you, how your guides will nudge you and how this moment will help you grow.
Because you are resonating as your whole self, you start to attract opportunities to feel more like your whole self.
Because you are radiating out as the calm, aligned light you are, you support others with that radiance.
The ripple effect begins.
But it’s hard. Goodness knows it’s hard.
Life is happening all the time.
Most of us have global situations on in the background as we wrestle life in the every day; The kids still need to get to school, the bills need paying and what about food in the fridge.
Alignment doesn’t take any of that away, but it very well might create more ease around each step.
Meanwhile, calling our attention back into alignment, wholeness and light, gives us back our sense of power.
A young client of mine was expressing how much they hated a certain politician.
I suggested pivoting it.
Hate is such a powerless emotion.
It keeps us stuck.
We fuel up all our power and chuck it towards one person, place or thing, only to have no feedback except to have it eat us up from the inside out.
In fact, if where attention goes, energy flows… the more attention we give to what we hate, the more energy we give it. (ouch.)
So, if you are filled with disgust over one individual or a situation, what do you do?
Claim your power back by breathing light in and reminding yourself where love flows.
As Mr. Fred Rogers said… look for the helpers.
Look for what’s working.
Look for strength in others and where there is light.
I’m not sure if Fred was aware of the power behind looking for the helpers, but it really is miraculous.
Because when we look at the helpers we simultaneously support the situation but remove energy from the perpetrator.
We radiate out positive energy even in a crisis situation.
We build momentum around the energy of helping, hoping, loving and supporting… which distracts from the hurting and harmful.
Our focus matters. Stories matter. Our energy matters.
We can become the change we want to see in the world, but it takes doing the work and taking the steps to move that dial and literally be a helper as well as be helped.
It takes the simple, simple step of continually connecting to our spiritual source however we perceive that to be, regulating our nervous system so we can be grounded and present, and then, directing our attention to the most loving part of any equation; so we can support it and build it with all our hearts.
Breathe deep dear one.
There’s so much good ready to come in.
Words are easy, I know how complicated it can be to fully integrate spiritual practices into the everyday chaos of life and actually embody the inner work so it doesn’t feel hard or impossible.
This is what I help my clients with daily.
I currently have one space available for a six to twelve week package.
